Samyoga Institute offers is an advanced yoga and yoga therapy teacher training program designed to create community and foster personal and professional growth. It offers a safe environment where students are encouraged to push their edge to explore and connect with their innate wisdom. The training incorporates educational and experiential components of yoga and ayurveda, including but not limited to the study of yogic texts, anatomy and physiology; whole person assessments; asana; pranayama; mudras and mantras; guided imagery; yoga nidra; and meditation. The interactive learning environment promotes an atmosphere maintaining the integrity of the tradition while making yoga accessible to every body. Mentorship, internships, community teaching, assisting and integrative assignments offer students an opportunity to deepen self-awareness as well as further the development of teaching and yoga therapy skills. As a result, students are able to offer their wisdom and gifts to diverse groups and individuals.
The program is divided into four quarters and designed to be completed within two or four years. Each fall begins with the 100 hour intensive (3 days in September, a weekend in October and November and 1 day in February). The spring quarter takes place with weekend classes in the spring consist of some SYI trainings and outside trainings approved by the mentor. The April and August sessions focus on the integration of ayurveda and yoga. Throughout the program, including the internship breaks, there is frequent contact with and support from an assigned mentor.
In addition to the Director, Janice George, Program Directors Emily Arnold and Sat Puran and the Samyoga Institute staff, there are also various guest lecturers. These men and women bring with them a wealth of knowledge and their love for yoga.
